The Hebrew Home at Riverdale is a not for profit, nonsectarian geriatric center offering a full continuum of care ranging from modern apartments for independent seniors to the most intense level of medical treatment. The Home serves more than 3,000 older people in the Bronx, Manhattan and Westchester County.
Since its founding in 1917, the Hebrew Home has grown to include a long-term residential health care facility located on 19-acres along the Hudson River, a senior housing community, and ElderServe, the community services division. ElderServe offers a full spectrum of health care and supportive services for people living at home. In addition, in 2005 the Home opened The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse Prevention, providing the nation’s first shelter for victims of elder abuse in the community. |
On Sunday, July 25 The Hebrew Home at Riverdale suffered severe damage from a tornado that touched down on our property. We are grateful that no one was seriously injured. However, we sustained approximately $1 million worth of damage in the way of dozens of uprooted trees, several broken glass windows and destroyed outdoor furniture that is so vital for the enjoyment of our residents.
Since the start of the recession the Hebrew Home has experienced one of its toughest times economically. We therefore need your help more than ever before to cover expenses from the storm damage. Please click here to make a secure, tax-deductible donation to our tornado relief drive. Checks may also be mailed to: The Hebrew Home at Riverdale, Development Office, 5901 Palisade Avenue, Riverdale, NY 10471. Please call 718-581-1700 for more information about the tornado relief drive.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
